Recreation Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in Commander, Fleet Activities, Okinawa, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department and is physically located at White Beach. The purpose of this position is to provide planning and operation of the Liberty Lounge, and assist patrons utilizing the lounge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs and/or assists in the operation of the facility. Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of the Liberty Lounge applying an understanding of the interest and needs of the program and participants, in accordance with the daily operating schedule or as required. Conducts inspection of the facility to ensure facility and associated equipment is in operating order. Prepares facility to receive patrons involved in the Liberty Program. Assignments include: establishing schedules of events; applying rules and regulations in supervising participants in indoor and outdoor activities; setting up for sports events or special events; scheduling and conducting tours and field trips. Demonstrates procedures common to the Liberty Lounge and instructs in the use of related equipment. Conducts instructional classes. Helps to plan and coordinates details of Liberty Lounge activities and maintains related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants. Operates cash register as required; receives, secures and accounts for funds received in compliance with current cash handling policies. Prepares and submits Daily Activity Reports for facility operations in compliance with current policies and procedures. Oversees sale of retail items associated with Liberty Lounge. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations. Monitors the Liberty Lounge for usage; maintains records of numbers of patrons served; ensures only authorized personnel use the facility. Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
A practical knowledge of recreational leisure lounge operations; includes the operation of specialized equipment such as computers, printers, TV’s, VCR’s, game tables, microwave ovens, etc. Knowledge gained through relevant experience, which will enable the employee to conduct operations in compliance with current food sanitation standards. Knowledge in the current procedures, policies for cash register operations and the handling of safeguarding of cash and receipts. Knowledge of retail accountability procedures; ability to conduct inventories in accordance with current policies, procedures and directives. Ability to speak, read and write Japanese a plus.
OTHER INFORMATION
Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the

satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer is required. Salary is commensurate with experience and/or education.
